This week we will look at the old adage of film vs. digital. Over the weekend I took the chance to use my Nikon D80 and a Nikon F50 (Generic Film) cameras on a shoot. I got the following two pictures using each camera. Now as a demonstration I was using different lenses on the camera bodies.
Taken with the D80 with the Noct-Nikkor 58mm f/1.2 MF
Taken with the F50 with the Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 AF

Lets start off with something easy; a good off-camera flash portrait. Will begin with the basics, her head takes up 1/2 of the vertical space in the picture and she is smiling and has good posture.
Hair Light from the Back
I do have a small issue with the hair-light from the back. I find it too strong beside her right ear (your left); and by casting light on the right side of the background (which oddly enough is the same colour as her hair) causes your eyes to focus in on the right side of her face and picture. Ideally the back ground would be either dark or a gradient starting from one side to the other; if it was a solid colour the attention would be more centered on her.
